STEPPING INTO THE PUMA’S MOSTRO ZONE IN BERLIN
words and editor ELIANA CASA
After our unforgettable trip to Milan last January with Puma for the launch of the Speedcat shoes, we immediately hopped on a flight to Berlin to join the Puma team for the next adventure. Little did we know, we were about to enter the MOSTRO zone and experience the new design firsthand. This time, we were joined by a few members of our community—Lissa Brandon, Elba Van Den Heuvel, and Elise Koffl—making the whole trip even more memorable.
Our Puma journey kicked off in the heart of Berlin - we found ourselves at Acht Berlin, a gritty yet iconic venue that perfectly captured the city's essence. After being welcomed with coffee and pastries, we entered a cinema where personalized bags containing the new Mostro shoes, sweet popcorn, and a blue rose awaited us at our seats. The experience began with a short film that built anticipation, followed by a performance with Puma’s dancers in futuristic plastic outfits, giving us a sneak peek at the new Mostro design. A hidden portal then transported us into the main space, where the new shoes were displayed in a sleek glass exhibit at the center, on what looked like an organic black rock.
The customization area immediately drew us in, where we had the chance to personally design and try on our own Mostro shoes. We explored various content rooms, including a bouldering station with an interactive climbing wall in Mostro colors and black rock formations, perfect for testing the Mostro sole's innovative grip. The custom quote projector added another touch of personalization, and the chrome room transformed us into AI versions of ourselves through a projector. It wasn’t until we looked at the time that we realized we’d spent over two hours immersed in the Mostro zone.
After a refreshing break at the hotel and a delicious dinner nearby, we headed to the after-party, where I caught up with the girls. During our conversation, we asked each other a few questions:
Numéro NL to Lissa:
Mostro means ‘monster’ – what’s your fashion nightmare?
Lissa: I’d say the constant pressure to consume. It’s a nightmare to think about how we’ve normalized buying more and more, only to toss it aside once it’s no longer ‘in style.’ Fashion shouldn’t just be about the next thing - it should be about timeless expression & identity
Lissa to Elise:
Which Mostro color speaks to you the most?
Elise: Oeh, tough choice! I'm torn between two. The black leather one is super clean and sleek, but the army print has something unique and bold about it. If I had to pick, though, I’d go with the black leather. I don’t have it myself yet, but I’ve seen it on others and it just looks great. Lately, I’ve been into simpler colors and basics. The leather gives it a clean, polished look, and since it’s all black, it’s easy to style with pretty much anything. Plus, you’re not locked into one specific style, which makes it pretty versatile.
Elise to Elba:
What moment at the Mostro event will you never forget?
Elba: I loved the various ways we could express our creativity—whether it was customizing our shoes or exploring the different content rooms. It was so much fun, and the best part was seeing everyone enjoy themselves. We spent a good two hours just soaking it all in.
Elba to Numéro NL:
What’s your biggest takeaway from this trip with Puma?
Numéro NL: Puma’s events always manage to surprise us, and we love how every trip reveals a new design in a new city. But for us, the highlight was definitely the group spirit. After nearly 48 hours of fun activities and adventures, here we are, dancing at the after-party, all wearing our new Puma’s Mostro shoes and enjoying the final moments together.
