MIU MIU PRESENTS ITS LEATHER GOODS CAMPAIGN

words by MAREK BARTEK

Miu Miu has unveiled its latest leather goods campaign, and it’s nothing short of a masterpiece, literally. Starring supermodel Gigi Hadid and captured by the legendary Steven Meisel, the campaign reimagines the brand’s signature matelassé bags as objets d’art, marrying fashion and fine art.

This season, we see Miu Miu shift its focus from direct artistic references to something more abstract—an atmosphere, an energy, a feeling. The result are portraits that walk the line between photography and painting, capturing Hadid in poised, high-society-inspired compositions inspired by the elegance of the 20th century. Each image has been digitally ‘painted’ by hand, evoking the organic texture of brushstrokes and the soft, tactility of the suede matelassé bags—specifically, the Wander and Arcadie silhouettes.

With creative direction by Miuccia Prada and art direction by Edward Quarmby, the campaign doesn’t just promote bags, but rather embraces a certain kind of timeless femininity. It’s fashion as art, and art as fashion. And with Miu Miu steering the wheel, the two have come together perfectly intertwined.
